孤傲的鋼琴家瑟隆尼斯．孟克 (Thelonious Monk)從Riverside轉換東家至哥倫比亞；這是他轉換東家之後的首張專輯。1959年，他與次中音薩克斯風手Charie Rouse組團，以四重奏展開活動。這張專輯是四重奏樂團首度進行錄音的作品。以往總令人費疑猜的瑟隆尼斯．孟克音樂，竟然有了一百八十度的轉變，成為平易近人的樂風，因而獲得眾多樂迷的熱烈支持，是值得紀念的一張作品。（1962年錄音）
